About the Opportunity

A well-established, global software organization with a growing Canadian contingent of talent in Ottawa, is looking to add a Cloud Security Engineer to their Engineering & Infrastructure group. This role focuses on threat detection, incident response, security monitoring, and operational resilience across the organization’s infrastructure and services.

The successful candidate will help improve the organization's ability to detect, investigate, contain, and recover from security incidents. Working closely with infrastructure, engineering, and development teams, you will maintain security visibility across systems, contribute to response playbooks, improve alert quality, and support a culture of operational security.

This is a permanent position with one of the region's top employers. Although this organization is known for their industry-leading technology, global community and progressive culture/work-life balance, they also offer competitive compensation and flexible work environment.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Incident Response: Manage the end-to-end incident lifecycle from triage and investigation to containment and post-mortem analysis
  • Threat Hunting & Mitigation: Proactively hunt for vulnerabilities and anomalies, translating findings into actionable hardening strategies
  • Process Engineering: Build and standardize incident response playbooks and cross-team escalation workflows
  • Infrastructure Defense & Resilience: Partner with systems teams to audit and harden cloud and container controls, and participate in disaster recovery simulations

About You

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Experience: 4+ years in security operations, cloud infrastructure security, incident response, or a related operational role
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with SIEM tools, log management, networking fundamentals, and identity/access management (IAM)
  • Environments: Experience with public cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerized environments
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills under pressure, with the ability to communicate effectively across technical teams
  • Education: Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Security+, CCSP) are considered an asset

About the Job

This is a permanent role with one of the region’s top nonprofit employers. As this organization employs a hybrid work model, only candidates local to the Ottawa/NCR will be considered.

The salary range for this role is $90,000 to $125,000 (commensurate of experience) and is in addition to a competitive benefits package, bonus, and vacation allotment.
