Business Systems & Data Analyst - Permanent - 19170 About the Opportunity Join a well-established Crown Corporation dedicated to shaping informed strategic direction through optimized enterprise systems, robust data insights, and structured information governance. Reporting to the Manager of Applications Services within our thriving Technology & Data group, you will join a close-knit, collaborative team.
This unique role beautifully blends day-to-day operational support, application administration, and business data analysis. You will act as a key bridge between technology and business insight, not only configuring and maintaining enterprise applications but also leveraging modern data environments to extract, query, and analyze information to build impactful business solutions.
They offer a hybrid work model requiring three days a week in either of their
Ottawa or
Toronto offices. Because of this, we are only considering candidates currently residing in these two regions.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Business Data Analysis & Reporting: Write and optimize SQL queries to extract data, conduct analysis, and build/maintain dynamic reports and dashboards (primarily in Power BI).
- Data Initiatives & Platform Support: Contribute to broader data and analytics projects, including utilizing Azure Databricks to interface with cloud data environments, manage data structures, and support analytics workflows
- Systems Administration & Access Controls: Provide technical configuration and administration services across core systems. This includes managing user access (provisioning/de-provisioning), maintaining site/application structures, and supporting periodic access reviews through reporting
- Day-to-Day Operational Support: Troubleshoot user issues, investigate incidents, and apply fixes across diverse enterprise systems, desktop applications, and data reporting tools. Act as the primary point of contact for ticket escalation
- SaaS & Business Application Configuration: Support the configuration, maintenance, and ongoing optimization of various SaaS platforms and Microsoft ecosystem tools (such as the Power Platform and SharePoint) to streamline workflows
- Stakeholder Engagement & Requirements Gathering: Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their operational and reporting needs, document technical requirements, and translate them into functional solutions
- Standards, Governance & Delivery: Participate in the evaluation of new technologies and the development of Information Governance/Information Management (IG/IM) standards, utilizing system metrics and data to monitor performance
About You The successful candidate will have the following
- Experience: 4+ years of hands-on experience in a Business Systems Analyst, Data Analyst, or IT Operations role with a strong track record of mixing system support with data-driven workflows
- Data & Business Intelligence Expertise: Strong proficiency with SQL Server (writing and troubleshooting queries) and Power BI (developing dashboards, data modeling, and reporting)
- Cloud Data Platform Exposure: Hands-on experience or strong familiarity working within Azure Databricks to support data analysis, ETL/ELT workflows, or data project initiatives
- The Microsoft Stack & SaaS: Deep technical background configuring and leveraging Microsoft ecosystem tools, specifically the Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate), SharePoint, Dynamics, and Active Directory, alongside general corporate SaaS administration
- Education & Certifications: A degree or diploma in Data Analysis, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Relevant Microsoft or cloud certifications (e.g., Power BI Data Analyst, Azure Data Fundamentals) are a strong asset
- Soft Skills: Exceptional troubleshooting skills and the ability to translate complex data and technical concepts into user-friendly, non-technical insights for diverse stakeholders
About the Job Salary is commensurate of experience ($85,000 to $105,000) and is in addition to a government pension/benefits plan, four weeks of vacation, annual bonus, and an annual wellness allowance.
