Civil Engineering Draftsperson


Bennett Plumbing and Civil is seeking a motivated Civil Engineering Draftsperson to join our team in Adelaide. This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in delivering critical infrastructure projects while working in a collaborative and professional environment.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed civil engineering drawings, plans, and technical documents using CAD software.

Draft site layouts, grading plans, road designs, drainage systems, services layouts, earthworks, and other civil components.

Interpret engineering sketches, notes, surveys, and technical data to produce accurate drawings.

Update and revise drawings based on engineer and client feedback.

Maintain drawing registers and ensure version control across all project documentation.

Assist engineers with design calculations by providing accurate layouts and dimensions.

Review drawings for compliance with engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and project specifications.

Liaise with surveyors, engineers, project managers, and subcontractors to clarify design needs and resolve discrepancies.

Prepare as?built plans from field information, survey data, and construction mark?ups.

Ensure deadlines for drawing submissions are met in line with project schedules.

Support the project team by preparing documentation for approvals, permits, and construction packages.

Assist with tender documentation by producing required plans and schematics. • Conduct basic quantity take?offs and material estimations from drawings.

Attend site when required to gather information, verify dimensions, or discuss plans with construction teams to ensure build compliance.

Maintain adherence to WHS procedures when preparing plans that affect site operations.

Participate in team meetings and contribute to design discussions and problem?solving. Archive and organise project drawing files in accordance with company document control procedures.

Skills & Requirements

  1. Solid understanding of civil/structural engineering principles
  2. Strong ability to read and interpret detailed construction drawings
  3. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
  4. Minimum of 1 year relevant industry experience
  5. Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle (site not accessible via public transport)
  6. Eagerness to learn and build expertise in subdivisional infrastructure projects
