Project Engineer


As the Project Engineer, you will manage and coordinate various aspects of a project, ensuring effective collaboration among teams. This role focuses on delivering projects on time and meeting client expectations through careful planning and execution.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management and Engineering

• Participate in the development of comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, and resource allocation.

• Oversee the day-to-day activities of assigned projects and adhering to project timelines and deliverables.

• Track project progress and performance metrics, identifying and addressing issues as they arise.

• Undertake project engineering activities on projects under direction from a Project Manager.

Technical Oversight

• Manage the engineering interface with Client and internal engineering team stakeholders, oversee the management and successful delivery of assigned projects, ensuring adherence to budget, program, quality, OHS&E, contractual and legislative requirements and IEG Management systems, policies and procedures.

• Collaborate with the team to create and review technical specifications, designs, and plans to ensure compliance with standards and client requirements.

• Implement and maintain quality assurance processes throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that all outputs meet predefined quality standards.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Build and sustain strong relationships with stakeholders, including clients, regulatory bodies, and industry organisations, to ensure alignment and compliance with relevant standards and practices.

• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, facilitating alignment on project goals, deliverables and shared success.

• Gather and analyse feedback from stakeholders to refine project methodologies and deliverables.

Team Leadership

• Actively support team members, promoting a culture of collaboration, learning and continuous improvement.

• Engage in team meetings, offering insights, updates and solutions to address project challenges.

• Demonstrate reliability and accountability in all aspects of project duties and responsibilities, maintaining a high standard of professionalism.

Financial Management

• Monitor assigned project budgets, tracking expenses and forecasting future financial needs to ensure cost-effective project delivery.

• Proactively manage vendor package budgets and schedule, track progress earned value against progress claims, manage and mitigate change events against vendor packages, and provide forecast costs to the overall project budget.

Risk Management

• Identify potential risks and challenges throughout the project lifecycle and develop mitigation strategies.

• Document and communicate risks to internal stakeholders, ensuring timely responses and adjustments.

Health and Safety

• Adhere to the company’s Integrated Management System (IMS) policies, procedures and supporting documentation.

• Participate as a member of team for the performance monitoring, measurement, analysis and evaluation (MMAE) of the organisations IMS.

Qualifications / About you

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field)

• Valid driver’s license.

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in project engineering or related roles.

• Proven experience managing packages of work and/or small to medium projects from start to finish and familiarity using relevant software and tools.

• Proficient in project management tools, with a strong understanding of relevant engineering standards, codes and regulations.

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, enabling effective collaboration with team members, clients, and stakeholders.

• Critical thinking and analytical skills to identify problems, assess risks, and develop innovative solutions that drive project success.
