Senior Business Development Manager | Global tech leader | Hybrid

This is a permanent opportunity for a Senior Business Development Manager to target prospects in the assigned industry vertical, this person will be a specialist and lead new business driver for the Higher Education Vertical, your key focus will be to develop and execute strategies and actions and an overall business plan to achieve the targeted outcome for this assigned Industry Vertical.

This Lead BDM will work closely with wider sales team (Business Development Managers and Regional Sales Managers) to achieve the targeted plan for the Industry Segment. In that regards the Lead BDM is directly responsible for targeting, acquiring and maintaining key large Enterprise Accounts and Opportunities for the vertical of Higher Education, this role will also have a small team of direct reports, you don't need to have leadership experience, but be in the career position to lead a small team & be a lead BDM for one of the biggest verticals for the business.

This includes prospecting & lead generation through all available means like e.g. Hunting, for the assigned territory and/or target Vertical Industry segment with the aim to generate a healthy pipeline.

Role responsibilities

  1. New business development – You will play a crucial role in expanding the company's presence in the respective vertical in Oceania. You will actively acquire new enterprise level prospects for the customer, grow existing key accounts, influence and support the sales team to identify new business opportunities, develop relationships with key stakeholders, negotiate partnerships, and work towards achieving sales targets and market share growth together with the sales team.
  2. Hunting - Lead generation through cold outreach, email, client visits, new business prospecting
  3. Market Analysis and Strategy: It is essential for you to have a deep understanding of the local market dynamics, customer needs, and competitive landscape in the respective vertical (Higher Education). You will conduct market research, analyze industry trends, and develop strategic plans to capitalize on opportunities and overcome challenges.
  4. Pricing Management: You are in combination with the category management and Business Unit Management responsible for the pricing of the products sold in the respective vertical in Oceania. The pricing of the vertical needs to be set under consideration of the competitive landscape and the given growth targets
  5. Stakeholder Management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with various stakeholders is vital for the success of the vertical. You will collaborate with government authorities, industry associations, technology and sales partners, suppliers, and customers to foster positive relationships, resolve issues, and ultimately grow the revenues of the vertical
  6. Sales, product and technical presentations / briefings to end-users
  7. Attending trade shows & events
  8. Identify and engage with key stakeholders, including end customers, sales partners, and influencers such as architects and consultants to generate a healthy sales opportunity pipeline and actual sales opportunity wins.
  9. Team leadership (You will manage and lead a team of 3-direct reports, other BDM's across different states)

Your key attributes & experience needed

  1. 3 + years experience in a BDM / Sales role focused on B2B, enterprise sales and growing territories
  2. You must have experience or exposure selling into the education sector which can include: tertiary education / higher education / student education / Universities or any form of education that fit's into the vertical
  3. Strong experience in hunting new business / new business development
  4. Experience in selling technology / IT solutions (Hardware, software, Saas, IT services, IT infrastructure, energy management, telecommunications / wireless networks)
  5. You must have experience selling B2B IT Hardware Solutions
  6. Strong communication skills & presentation
  7. Commercially minded & commercially driven
  8. Proven experience generating pipeline & closing deals / exceeding targets
  9. Ability to hunt new business & generate pipeline
  10. Ability to follow the full sales cycle and close deals
  11. Hungry to be successful & driven by a highly lucrative commission scheme
