City Discount Tyres is a leading provider of high-quality automotive services, including suspension repairs, brake services, battery testing, wheel alignment, balancing, and more. We are seeking a dedicated motor mechanic with at least 1 year of experience to join our expert team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair a wide range of vehicle issues (engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, electrical systems, etc.)
- Perform regular vehicle maintenance, including oil changes, brake inspections, tire rotations, and fluid checks
- Conduct safety inspections and ensure all vehicles comply with industry standards and regulations
- Provide clear explanations to customers regarding repairs and maintenance required
- Test drive vehicles to ensure repairs are performed correctly and assess vehicle performance
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment and adhere to health and safety regulations
- Keep detailed records of work performed, parts used, and labor hours
- Work with diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot and fix vehicle issues
- Assist in the training of junior mechanics and apprentices to develop their skills
- Manage parts inventory and ensure the necessary tools and equipment are available for repairs
- Perform specialized repairs, such as engine overhauls, electrical system troubleshooting, and transmission rebuilding
- Provide pre-purchase vehicle inspections and advise customers on the condition of used cars
- Perform alignment and balancing of wheels to ensure proper vehicle handling and safety
- Conduct emissions testing and repairs in line with environmental regulations
- Ensure that customer vehicles are returned in a timely manner and keep customers informed of repair progress
- Recommend and sell additional services or products based on customer needs and vehicle condition
- Assist with the installation of aftermarket accessories and customizations as requested by customers
- Continuously update your knowledge of automotive technologies and repair techniques
- Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements related to automotive repairs
- Manage time effectively to meet repair deadlines and service targets
Key Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a motor mechanic
- Relevant qualifications in Automotive Mechanical Technology (Cert III or higher)
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills with customers and team members
- Full Australian work rights
- A commitment to quality and attention to detail
- Valid driver’s license
