Gooree Park is one of the oldest Wagyu Stud producers in Australia and still has the original Westholme bloodlines in the cattle pedigrees today.

The property of Gooree is well known for producing strong racehorses and Gooree has proudly been breeding & racing thoroughbreds for over 45 years.

About the Role:

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Financial Assistant/Assistant Accountant to join our team at our Main Office located at 1544 Castlereagh Hwy, Galambine, NSW. This position reports directly to the Financial Controller. The following duties are applicable to fulfil this role:

·        Prepare Management Information Reports, including balance sheets and statements of profit and loss.

·        Monitor and prepare financial reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

·        Prepare trial balances and review all asset and general ledger accounts.

·        Account for daily receipts and payment details, ensuring bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and employee expense reimbursements are accurate.

·        Manage payroll tax payments, record-keeping, reconciliation, and filing with government bodies on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

·        Maintain the Fixed Asset Register, calculate depreciation, and post entries, as well as balance sub-ledger transactions to the general ledger.

·        Prepare accounting entries, perform compliance-based auditing, produce accounting information, and maintain records, compliance reports, and analysis.

·        Work with external accountants and statutory auditors during the annual company audit.

·        Liaise with the finance and planning team to ensure correct procedures for accounting and bookkeeping of revenue, costs, income, and expenditure comply with Australian Accounting Standards.

·        Prepare payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements for the group of companies.

·        Implement and administer accounting information systems for the bank.

·        Reconcile cross-company bank accounts and prepare monthly and weekly payment schedules.

·        Post monthly journals for payroll costs, employee superannuation, withholding tax, salary sacrifice, commissions, and employee termination payments.

·        Assist the Financial Controller with the preparation for the annual audit and collaborate closely with statutory auditors.

·        Reconcile vendor account statements with books of accounts and follow up to resolve discrepancies.

·        Perform other duties commensurate with the position, as determined by the Gooree Park Group of Companies Financial Controller.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in accounting or finance roles is preferred, typically 1-3 years.
  • Familiarity with accounting software and ERP systems preferably SAGE 300.
  • A solid understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Functions well in a team environment and is willing to assist other team members where required.
  • Knowledge of the relevant agricultural industries is referable but not essential.
  • Is prepared to work within a rural location. This an essential part of the position.
